It is important to bring your pet in for a wellness exam at least once a year, as a lot can change in that time. Some pets may benefit from more frequent visits depending on their age and health. During the exam, our doctors will thoroughly examine your pet to assess their overall health and check for any potential issues. By examining their eyes, ears, oral cavity, joints, muscles, abdomen, heart, and lungs, we can detect any abnormalities early on when they are most treatable.
Client education is a priority for us, so if you have any questions or concerns as a pet owner, a wellness visit is the perfect opportunity to discuss your pet's health and care with a knowledgeable veterinary professional.

Meet Dr. Rebecca Kurtzman
Medical Director (Hudson Square) & DVM
Dr. Kurtzman earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 2012, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. She further honed her skills during a rotating internship at Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners.
Dr. Kurtzman’s professional interests include internal medicine and ophthalmology.
Dr. Rebecca Kurtzman discovered her passion for veterinary medicine at a young age.
Growing up in Rockland County, her home was always filled with dogs, fostering her love for animals and inspiring her to pursue a career dedicated to their care.
She currently resides on the Upper West Side with her husband, daughter, and their beloved Bernedoodle, Edna Pumpkin. Outside of work, she enjoys dancing, exploring new restaurants and cuisines, and expressing her creativity through painting.
Meet Dr. Stephanie Liff
Medical Director & Owner
Dr. Stephanie Liff is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan. Passionate about pets and animal medicine, Dr. Liff moved to Florida where she obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Before joining the team at Pure Paws Veterinary Care, Dr. Liff completed an internship at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in Manhattan. Today, DR Liff is veterinarian and owner of all 3 pure paws locations including Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, Hell's Kitchen and Hudson Square. Her areas of progressional interests include internal medicine, dermatology, dentistry and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Liff is also certified in Senior Dog Veterinary Care (there is no feline certification) and enjoys caring for her patients throughout all the life stages. When Dr. Liff is not practicing high-quality animal medicine, she enjoys travelling, spending time with her husband Paul and labradoodle Kyrie and cooking. She is also a huge Michigan Wolverine fan and will always be a Michigan Wolverine at heart.
